    Hi all!

I am trying to figure out what material my dad's old flask is made of. Silver plate? Tin? Non-magnetic. Further to that, wondering if I could be refinished if it is silver plate?
Can the inside be made clean enough to actually use again? From what I can see inside, it only appears rusty in the threads of the cap, not the actual inside of the flask. Only markings that I can find are on the bottom.

I was hoping to pass it down to my daughter's fiance on their wedding, but obviously don't want to give him some cheap old flask that can't be used. It has sentimental value to me, but I just have it on display in my liquor cabinet, it's not used.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

your flask is made from pewter....an alloy of tin. copper bismouth and antimony. contrary to popular belief modern pewter does NOT contain lead.....so polish it and use it ...

I was wondering if yours might be silver plated as it has that look to me. My one and only hammered flask (that came from a thrift) has "sterling" faintly stamped on the neck. Hard to see but worth a good look.

I also was wondering about who used "warranted non corrosive" on flasks so I was googling.

I came upon two types though there are probably more. One is saying that it's nickel plated brass from Germany with the "warranted non corrosive" on an accompanying corkscrew.

The other type seem to say "warranted non corrosive" the oz number and "Japan" without knowing what the metal is exactly.

Could be pewter. I like to see examples of things but don't mean to send you in a wrong direction.:)

I have one very similar but don't remember if it has the same writing on the bottom or not. Mine is silver plate.
