Hello all. I’m looking for a little help identifying a small pedestal table I’ve had for over 40 years. The back two legs are loose and I’m not sure how to tighten them up, everything seems to be hidden at the attachment points. If it turns out it is a quality piece I should like it professionally repaired. Thanks in advance for any and all who can help.

An unusual form, but looks mid-20th century Duncan Phyfe-y. Mahogany. Very handsome, but in this depressed antique market such pieces go for a song. If you love it, then repair it so you can continue to do so. If you want to sell it, don't expect to retire on the proceeds :).

Ghropper, thanks that’s a help. I’m not looking to sell it, I just didn’t know if it was worth getting a pro...I’m pretty good at common repairs but I’ve seen too many pieces buggered up by shade tree repairs.

I know what you mean! Paying a pro to do it correctly will almost certainly cost more than the piece is worth, but if you love the table then the peace of mind will be worth it.
I have had pieces repaired when the bill is actually higher than the piece's worth. I've never regretted it once. I'll enjoy them for (hopefully) decades to come, and as far as the financial hit goes, I'm philosophical: I've saved something from neglect and possible destruction, and that's worth something in itself.

Legs might just be dowelled in. If so, and you can get them off, it would be an easy fix to re-glue.

Dowelled in, that’s it! I knew someone smarter than me would have the solution. Thanks
