Featured I think I have amber, but I can't tell if its natural

    Sorry for the less than professional photos, I didn't get my photo box out for this one. I've looked up photos online of amber under uv light and I think this one is good, but I can't find much on telling natural vs reconstituted vs pressed. Perhaps you lovely folks will share your thoughts on these photos? Thanks!

    A positive for amber.:) It is a combination of amber beads that have undergone different treatments.
    All of them are (heat)pressed, that is how you get the shape.*
    Some are reconstructed as well. Those are the ones where you can see the small shiny bits.
    It am not sure it is Baltic amber, but I don't know where it is from. It could do with some TLC. The Polish amber office recommends a rub with olive oil.

    *If you want beads of a relatively uniform shape, you either facet-cut them or you press them. Completely natural amber beads show the original shape of the amber nugget, and at least some of the rough 'skin'.

    Awesome, thank you! It cost me the grand total of 50 cents :woot::woot: Great to know a little bit more about the types of amber.
