    Hi,
    It is a stereo optic camera for taking dual photographs for the cards that are used in viewing.

    Beat me to it. An early example like that is quite rare. There should be plenty of information on it to identify age and maker. It says something around the lenses for example.

    Thank you Alex for bringing that here with great photos.
    I spent many hours with a stereoscope and many of the cards since I was a kid. Still have one, and some cards. But never knew how they were made. Generally thought it was just putting together two individual copies of the same picture.

    Greg, thank you for such a quick response.

    Only question I have now is for Springfield.

    Do you know yet what the other four things are?
