    Hi,
Approx 5.5” tall. I think this was for some type of liquid. I believe the London, sterling, date mark is for 1937

Vinegar? I was watching the history of food and they put all kinds of things on meat, that had essentially gone bad, so that it would be palatable. Eww! Lol. I guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

With all those holes it make me think something powdery. Any reason you're thinking liquid?

Other not salt or pepper shakers: muffineer, sugar caster, pounce pot?

My first thought was a water sprinkler when ironing but sure would be a fancy one with a sterling head

    The water thing for ironing
was my first thought. It came with a collection of Muffineers. I guess the shape and smaller size is throwing me off. Thank you guys

I don't think it's a pounce pot, which would generally have a concave top or a lip around its perimeter.
IMHO, muffineer/sugar shaker most likely. (Lots are mis-labeled as pounce pots.) :)
    Pretty!!

I am used to seeing muffineers with more bulbous shapes on the vessel. But I learn new things here all the time.

Maybe it was the color that made it more desirable.
