Featured Hutschenreuter Hotel Silver

Photos taken before polishing it, so it looks worse than it is.

Any idea how old this is? Early 1900s?
And does the 10 mean it's 10 micron plating thickness?

 

It looks like the hotel is still in business. Do you know anything about the history of the hotel? If you could find the date it was founded, that would give the earliest date. But may the date range is too long.

 

I only found a Best Western Hotel with a restaurant called Wittenberger Hof.
And I found a l1931 letter on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/174954460597.
But I culdn't find any more info on when they started and/or if the hotel was taken over by Best Western.
I did find some other Hutschenreuter pieces, with the description satying it was late 1800s or early 1900s, but none with an actual mark, so no idea if the description is accurate or not.

 

Oh, I saw the Best Western one and thought that was also the name of the hotel, but "branded" as Best Western. That sort of branding happens a lot with hotel chains.

Maybe Wittenberger Hof was always the name of the restaurant attached to a hotel? The link above says it is from a 1975 postcard. I do think your cup is older than that!

( EPNS hotelware etc etc )
apart from crockery and a few spoons

There's also a Hutschenreuther (with that 3rd h) and that's a porcelain manufacturing family. Google, annoyingly (quelle surprise), also shows their wares when you look for the name without that 3rd h.
