I believe this is an amateur painting, friends.

I don't think the artist was a rank amateur, but maybe some of you do. I'm always interested in your opinions on art, especially why you do or don't like a piece.

    Not sure about the sig . . . Aosting? A C Sting?

Still deciding if that's a bobwhite quail or grouse in flight and if the dog is a Braque Francais (Gascogne type) pointer or some other breed of bird dog.

Thanks in advance for any comments/replies.

What does the frame look like, and the back, and what are the measurements :)

It's not framed but on a 24 x 36 stretch canvas. The back is dusty/grimy looking. Tips to best clean it would be appreciated.

It has a naive quality to it but... the artist clearly knew what he wanted to do and he achieved it. I'd think it was the work of a local artist, perhaps a hobbyist, who was certainly good enough to sell his work locally.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

at 36 long , I'd hope to see a brace in the centre, unless the he used a hardwood stretcher ...
the staples speak to a recent work....
the image is very tender, and the view looks like one is peeking out from a blind..
