    Hi folks

this was something else i picked up at local auction this week, it wasnt very much (£5) but was hoping it was a bronze

it totally isnt, and my head sunk when i picked it up (still havent found a proper bronze)

still think its quite interesting though

from the signature (which i think is inscribed)

is from a well known irish bronze sculptress

who has large commissioned bronzes in Ireland of irish folklore figures

its huge (15 inches) and weighs a tonne

im thinking its gotta be cold cast bronze, buts the guts of it look almost sculpted (see last pic)

her cold casts are usually as marked in limited numbers

but this is just signed, and cant find another

    any thoughts or info appreciated

Love this. A pair of ladies from the house of ill repute. Don't have a clue as what is made of. Just thought it was pretty cool.

This might have been a one off for a private client…..
Check under the baize, I used to mark my resin edition numbers on the bases of the casts. (Resin is cold cast bronze btw)
You did get a bargain though Charlie.

Bronze powder is expensive over £40 per kg, and at that size would have cost a lot in labour too. Sure you would have lots of customers for it.

I think the daughter has taken over from her mother's work and carried on the company name, and has a website

Might be worth asking out of interest

She might be interested herself to see an example of her mother's work
