Looks like a Chinese silver clasp.
Were we importing from them in the 1980s?

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Chrysoberyl (quartz)... "tiger's eye" beads.
As far as age... I would guess 70's or later? Jewelry brainiacs will be along soon, I'm sure. :)

    Hi,
I think it is early 1950s with the clasp saying silver. It has the same "filigree" on the silver clasp as two pieces that I have from the 50s. It was later it would have had other markings.

They were still making clasps like that, silver mark and all, well into the 80s. My dad bought me a stone bead necklace with the same clasp back around 1985. On the other hand, those cord ends have an awful lot of wear on them, not to mention greenies. It's either older or someone just wore the heck out of it.

I'm with Evely here....& the thread took the most wear because of those metal beads...all the other thread looks fine.

Came back for another look and to see what others have said.

The clasp I think is older than the beads. Easy enough to put a different clasp on.
The reason I'm saying that is - the clasp is silver, but the ends whatever they are called that the clasp is hooked to, look like brass. That is a nice clasp, there should be silver connections, not brass.

The reason I said 1980s, I was working the costume jewelry counter in the mid 80s. We were selling a lot of stone bead necklaces, rose quartz, amethyst, tiger eye, etc. I just can't remember where they were coming from. I don't think it was China.

The mixed metals are actually dead common on pieces coming out of China in that era, so it looks original to me.
