How old is this French hall chair?

How old is this French hall chair? Looks old but the wood oxidation is not old looking, have
8-Way Hand-Tied springs.
. Part of the upholstery have cardboard backing that throws me off as modern.

 

Looks like ca. 1900 or so.

 

Agree with the above dating. While this could be French, the precedence for this chair is Spanish. That carved front stretcher pretty much screams Spanish. Also, this type of claw foot is typically known as a Spanish foot.

... and while searching Spanish arm chairs, I happened to run across this even more similar example of your chair. While not specifically billed as Spanish here, it did pop up when searching those terms. Take the price and dating with a grain of salt.....

Agree. The general style is European Renaissance, but that detail is typical Spanish.
In this case it is Renaissance Revival, rather than Renaissance.
