How old is this chair? Debating if it’s worth the trouble to keep and restore
The previous owner said her friend gave it to her bring it from Norway

 

Likely 1880s. It looks like the feet have been cut down? If not then new padding and upholstery on the seat is not a big deal if you like the chair. But if the feet have been cut off, I'd pass.

 

Reminds me of a Chiavari chair.

 

Don't think it started life with that padded seat.

Ditto. It looks like the kind of chair that would have a woven seat. Cane, rush or sea grass.

I like the style, even if the legs were possibly cut down.

 

It has that same light-weight, spindle look (only different).

 

I like it. If you could manage to just replace the seat and that missing stretcher, I think it would look terrific. It doesn't look like it would be necessary to redo everything.

Could be Hunzinger......he was a big fan of stick and ball.
