These paintings are unsigned, but they appear to be antique.

what era to they appear to be from?

Best photographs you have? Nothing taken from straight on?

Two Spanish genre paintings. Beyond that can't tell much because of angle of photographs. Look old but quality not high. Bickmore died in 1969 so at least 50+.

Thanks! I will try to do better ones later on. I figured they were Spanish but copies of older professional artists

Not sure they're copies. Don't know what's going on in the first one. The second one appears to be a young woman, accompanied by her chaperone, receiving the attention of a man beside a well. You can always open up backs to see if any additional information within.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I can't add more to what Debora said about the paintings. But just wanted to mention that your phone probably has an editing software that will allow you to turn the photographs... if that happens again.

Yes, that would be appreciated as a courtesy to forum members.

Also, light source positioning can have a huge impact on the quality of your photos of oil paintings! I suggest placing a lamp slightly in front of and on either side of the painting with the lamps facing towards each other (90 degrees to the painting). Then take a photo of the painting straight-on.

This should help reduce glare and boost contrast. Works well even with a cell phone camera.

These appear to be 19th century, or very early 20th with an earlier subject matter. Seem older than the frames. Hard to tell without seeing the backs of the stretchers.

The work of a provincial painter, I'd think. And since figures are wearing traditional dress hard to pinpoint date. But I agree with above time frame. Not the original frames, obviously, but those frames do look Spanish to my eye. Should be possible to identify region by male figure's costume -- hat and gaiters -- which is why good quality photographs are important.

Ah, here we go. From above listing: "Bickmore was long associated with the Closson Gallery Company, and owner of a gallery on 413 Race Street in Cincinnati."
