How Often Do You Source Your Finds?

Mostly weekends for me. Sometimes one or two auctions. Work makes it difficult to source during the week. In the past 15 years I've probably attended 500 different auctions. When the auctions are not plentiful or the offerings are poor I head out to the antique mall or flea market.

    I've stopped going out.
I will never sort through everything I have.
Plus I have a shop, it is walking through the doors. Everyone is downsizing.

I can’t pass a CShop, if I’ve got time to go in, I’m in, though some are not as good for finds as a year or two ago. Saturday it’s Jumble/rummage sales, occasionally I’ve gone to 3 in a day. Sunday it’s either car boot or Garage Sales. It’s a bit out of control really, I’m getting flak from some friends and relatives, though they do admit they get lovely gifts that I couldn’t have afforded to buy new.

My parent's decided to move from Ohio to live with my sister in SC as they are too old to take care of their house anymore and most everything in it is old - so that will be my sourcing on here for awhile to find out info on what they left me. Sad to see them go but it's so much better for them instead of a dreaded nursing home!! :nurse::nailbiting::oldman:

I try to go out to local estate sales if the pictures look good.
They are mostly on the weekends, but sometimes will be during the week.
Same story for garage sales, yard sales.

We have some not so great thrift shops around here so I don't go as often as I used to because it mostly is a waste of time. I used to go to them a few times a week, but they don't have the good stuff they used to and if they do have something, it is priced up so high, it is beyond retail.

Of late I have missed many sales or going out to find treasures due to the weather.
I am looking forward to warmer days here on Long Island for sure.

I go to local estate sales, thrift stores, fleas, consignment shops, antique stores, pawn shops and our transfer station (we have a swap shop, metal pile and usable furniture area) plus keep an eye on eBay auctions. I never know what I will find. But my best finds have been through neighbors and friends that are "getting rid of family stuff" and call me :)

Where does your sister live in SC? :):)

I work at an auction house every Friday night & buy stuff there when I can. I also have a couple of thrift shops I stop in on occasionally as well as a local consignment shop. However, I am determined to source mostly out of the garage & the piles around the office for the next few months because I have got to get rid of stuff especially some larger pieces out in the garage. :p:p:p

I can't remember the exact city but it is right around by Charleston! Area code is 843 if that helps? I got run over by a couple of cars when I was yyounger and can't remember much

I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your memory. :(:(

It could be several different cities, but that is a beautiful area & weather wise it will be much easier on your parents that living in Ohio. Are they still able to get around some to take in some of the sites in what we call the "Low Country"?

Twice a week. Weekly auctions + Sunday flea-market.

I am out searching most days I am not working in the store. Usually 3-5 days a week for at least an hour or two.

Thrift stores, antique stores occasionally, online auctions, estate sales, rummage sales, tag sales... pick any and all. I generally go MS or no MS, but may have to curtail parts of it since I'm having "fun" feeling what I'm doing and really do need to unload some stuff so I have room for more.

The only things I have bought recently are from other board members as I don't get out so much any more. Not a large number of items but I was glad to get all of them.

Forgot to mention, I go to all these places every week. Estate sales drop off in the winter here, I can go for weeks without seeing any :wideyed:

I love shopping the local flea. I set up at 7:00 and as soon as my booth is ready I shop. It's kind of a strange flea, dealers come early but vacationers - my customers - don't start coming in until around 10:30 or so. They are on vacation, they like to sleep in and have a lazy breakfast before shopping!

I was out looking today in two charity thrifts and a senior center consignment store. Bought a $5 pair of earrings that aren't old, but are sterling. The local Ill Will would have put $20 on them.

eBay seems to be a good place to find undervalued items if you find sellers that are selling out of their area or expertise or are just trying to liquidate.
