I am new to the site and hoping some of you lovely people can help me to discover a little more about two rings that my daughter has recently been bequeathed by her Polish Great Grandmother who was 95 when she passed away. We are keen to learn more about the possible age and anything else anyone may be able to suggest So that my daughter has more understanding of these items.

We are told one of the rings may be set with a Russian Ruby and the other a partially carved coral, though are not certain of this as another relative has passed them along to us . The hallmark on one is definitely polish, but is tough to make out; the coral one is just stamped with 14K.

Any ideas are welcome and gratefully recieved.

On the hallmarked ring: I agree Polish and it most resembles the mark for 585 gold (14K). These hallmarks were in use 1963-1986:

The number 3 to the left of the figure indicates 585/14K.
The letter to the right of the figure indicates the city... is it an H or a K... or a W? You can buy a jeweler's loupe very cheaply on Amazon or eBay, they really help when looking at tiny marks.

I agree that one is coral. I have a fully-hallmarked coral cabochon Polish ring in a slightly similar setting that is from the 1970s.

Agree with @bluumz , the red one is likely carved coral, it was fairly popular in the 60's and 70's for rings. The mounts are also typical of 60's 70's period. The ring with the pink stone looks a little earlier than the coral one (from the mount style).

The pink stone (if corundum) would be sapphire (rubies are red, a pink ruby is called a sapphire). If it is sapphire it would almost certainly be synthetic. The colour is also typical of topaz and CZ or Glass, so you need to have it tested to be sure.

Thank you for this, I had not been able to find the letter /number combination in this order anywhere I looked. Much appreciated.

I vote lab grown pink sapphire on the second one, probably made in the USSR & exported to Poland, 60s/70s.

That's the one with the Polish hallmarks.
OP states the coral ring is simply marked 14K.

Which is why I surmise the stone was exported to Poland. You find jewellery with lab grown corundums from Soviet client states in that period.

Oh, you mean just the stone and not the setting, then. Sorry, I didn't realize!

I see what I wrote was ambiguous. Yes, the stone exported. :)
