I found this in a going-out-of-business Antique store recently. It seemed, especially the head & face, quite unusual compared to the more common Japanese bear carvings. The fine detail in the fur, the white vs black eyes, the bone teeth, and the absence of a salmon all appealed strongly. There are a few chips (one ear, and the upper front of the mouth), and the upper canines are missing. It's about 12 inches long (right-front to left-hind paw), and 7 inches high at the head. It looks like Teak, or Mahogany. Is this a familiar and/or common rendering? All of your comments are welcome, and will be gratefully acknowledged! Thanks...Warren
