As Someone here knows, I had a little sort of the Hoard and actually sold some bits. Holy cow. Basically, spares/repair stuff and bits I'd picked up in bundles, where I kept the good stuff. A couple of hundred assorted brooches, dress clips and such. This is probably .000001 percent.

Along the way, this was disgorged. It was FILTHY. Nothing ventured, I went at it with a toothbrush and Vanish carpet cleaner foam. It is now pristine, I tell you, pristine.

I've also looked online and these seem to sell well. Not that I'm going to. This is the before. M20A (2).jpg

These are the after. I think I might clean the cameos next.

    Vanish works beautifully.
PS-Deciding if/when to sell the really precious stuff that 'speaks to you' can be a tough decision.

    Wow, that looks gorgeous!
I'm going to have to see if there is an American equivalent to Vanish.

There is definitely some stuff in my hoard that will be with me until I die... it brings me joy just to know I have it and occasionally look at it. :)

Just warm water and a drop of dish soap for shell cameos. You can soak a while and maybe use a soft toothbrush if needed. Dry thoroughly :)

Some of us never make it, preferring to dither, an' meanwhile hang on to it! Yup!

Oh, that sounds like a good idea!
I have several of those laying idle in the hoard.
Might help me decide what to do with them if I get them clean
I m usually not very fond of cleaning jewelry though.
Had some bad luck 'cleaning' a cloth collar with faux pearls...all lustre came loose from the pearls the moment I soaked the collar in lukewarm water :(

If you're lucky this product can be found, online or locally:

Ah, but that doesn’t do fabric, which is what the wondrous Vanish does.

For me, the cleaning I don't want to do is all fiddly sterling bits.

The softest of toothbrushes, an' Dip-It...well-diluted with distilled water. Not perfect, but serviceable.

I'd go with the same toothbrush and ye old pink paste instead.
