Just looks too newer- paint shows no fading, Very obvious veneered. Maybe I'm wrong, been wrong before, but just doesn't look very old. Too much "sheen"

Well, these look older than 1955 to me! I cannot address the sheen, as we don't know what conditions these have endured. They may have been polyurethaned on top of varnish, or perhaps just a Fornby's touch up type of shiny. I think these are just lovely brown furniture. @tkobo are you thinking of buying these?

My dad is, for the family antique shop. I am against the purchase as we know nothing about the pieces.

The market where we are for this kind of overly decorative dining room furniture is pretty tiny.Everyone around us turn the sideboards and buffets into bars and liquor storage... :(

Appears to be 1920s/30s veneered pieces.

Sorry to say your pictures are not helping me.
The blurry one might be a china hutch.
Does the second one have a mirror? Buffet or side board.

They are nice, unfortunately brown furniture is not a big seller.
Depending on where you are will determine if you can do well with these.

Oh and size can be a determining factor.

Sometimes the 20s/30s furniture isn't as large as later furniture, so that could be a plus for newer homes with smaller rooms.
If on the other hand these are large pieces, it might make it a harder sell.

Yes, looks like, photos are very blurry, 20th century for sure, I don't think it matters much which decade. Very low demand these days for dining room furniture in USA with very few exceptions.

Not my fault on the pics :p dad took em .These are the better of the pics... No mirror on the second one (buffet or sideboard).

On 1930s/40s style furniture. Not an uncommon style for the time.

Agree with a circa 1930 date. Would only purchase if dirt cheap ($50.00 or less per piece).

Yeah, kinda sad in a way, perfectly decent furniture & looks in good condition & the only buyers that are available are if dirt cheap!
This happens A LOT to furniture that loses it's main function & fails to find a new niche.
