It's 5.5 inches (14cm) tall. The base is just shy of 3.5 inches square (9cm).
The candle socket is tapered, coming to a solid area ( the hole doeasn't go through the body). The surface effect is raised. It's weighty at 380 grams (13.4 ounces).
Would that shape typically be ascribed a name such as Art Deco or something else? My first thought was "Edwardian" but really I have no idea where that came from as I'm not knowledgeable about such things. Any ideas on maker or for that matter anything else about it ?

    Hi,
It looks like "By Crackie".I have to go to the books to see the maker and the years it was made. I used to spout off all this information but niow i have to check and see.

Thank you ! Looks like it is indeed "By Cracky" by L. E. Smith, produced 1925-32, according to Glass Lovers Data Base, which I just registered at for free. I haven't found an example in the shape of mine yet.

    Hi Tom,
I had set in clear which I sold. Still have an ashtray in crystal and amber.

Photos ? If you're so inclined...
I think it's quite attractive, as much for the shape as the color and texture.

I'm not sure about the LE Smith attribution on these. My LE Smith book lists three different candle holders that were produced and none match the example above. They were all very short (2", 2 1/2" and 3"). I'll try and go through my candlestick books this weekend and see if I can locate it. There were other companies that produced variations of this pattern including Imperial.

While hunting I came across a blog (which I've lost:banghead:) that mentioned Macbeth Evans and McKee(?) as producers of a crackle-like finish. But
    nothing turned up for me.
