This was in a jewelry box last night at the auction. My first thought before opening it was needle storage. Then when I saw the celluloid sleeve with the point inside I thought it was some kind of little pocket pen. But the end isn't split to make a good nib. A friend has suggested that it's a toothpick.

    What is it?

Looks like a dip pen or some sort of scoop. NOT something I'd want in my mouth.

Not sure it's original, but it looks like a goose quill pen...

I thought it was a pen too. But the end would need to be split to hold ink. And it is celluloid not goose quill.

But I think they're wrong about it being a holder because it wouldn't lock together to just hold a toothpick.

The second one they call it a toothpick and not a holder. And both were advertising pieces.
