Now that's the real deal - horribly worn and therefore worth nothing much - but a real hand-knotted rug.

 

I should remember where that orange is from......but I don't ....
It does look to be an authentic older Persian type.....but that thread bare .....has dissolved most if not all of it's value..

I'm sure it was once quite valuable, but even my husband (who saves EVERYTHING if given the chance!) would let this one go......sorry....

But then......the AR would probably say "Thou$and$!!!!!

 

It is not likely for hand knotted woolen rug to loose pile like this, even if 500 years old and in the hallway of a train station.

 

Ya....hummmm....maybe a Turkish Oushak.....that could be where I'm getting that orange vibe from....

& that's why I'm not a rug expert !!

 

Turkish rugs are also made with silk or cotton
