Does anyone recognize the shape on the silver? It's a sort of flourishing bow, arrow and scepter, crossed. the item (which I can't post a picture of as it's not mine and is for sale) is a silver torah shield (see here: http://www.silvercollection.it/dictionarytorahshield.html), made in Russia-Poland in the mid-1800. there are three medallions like the one in the picture, set in the filigree. I don't even know how to search for it. Can it be a maker mark?
    Thanks! IMG_20171120_085835-min.jpg IMG_20171120_085846-min.jpg

Ruth, I don't know what it is, but I would not expect that medallion to be a maker's mark.

Me neither. Just an ornament, then?

Perhaps, but then again, perhaps not. I honestly don't know, Ruth, because I'm simply not familiar enough with the subject to say anything knowledgeable about it.

Maybe if you can wait a few hours until morning US time, someone might have some decent info for you.

Ruth, can you still edit the title to include Torah shield? That would get some Jewish eyes on the thread, maybe they recognize the symbol.

I can't find the 'edit title' option. It seems it's impossible. However, I don't recognize this as anything Jewish (and that's the stuff I work with), so I doubt there's any such meaning to it.

Maybe to much time has passed to be able to edit it.
I also though about town crests Poland or Russia, but they don't really look like a town crest. You never know, though, might be worth researching.
