    hi folks

found this in a charity shop. was very unassuming in a plastic wallet and modern mounting

but thought it had something about it

took it to bits, and surprisingly think it has some age

painted on a hard white material, not porcelain

    love the blood red background

it isnt what you would call a fine painting, but it has something i think, sort of more a caricature

    any thoughts or info appreciated

I'd say an amateur , but with a well trained hand......and spunk !!!

    age....... one would think so,,,,,

I don't collect this......but it would be hard to walk away from......
    nice find !!!

Agree with komo, an amateur. After Hans Holbein the Younger's portrait.

    The original was 1540.;)
The paper on this one seems to have age, maybe late 19th-early 20th century? Not really my area of expertise though.

    I dunno......the colours...subject matter....you could get funky with a frame....

or like u say....a gold guilt over the top look..

A coin was worth its weight in Silver before Henry came along and started mixing the silver content with copper, so I learned recently

Portrait as propaganda. The reality was quite different.

They have captured the facial features very well. What are you looking for with he ultra violet light?

    Spunk and blood :)

No, good question, I pondered for a minute if it was painted on ivory
But then realized that there's no tusk that size

I've found some before that where painted on ivory but they were much smaller

I love things like this that need unravelling.
Were paintings ever done on celluloid?
