    hi guys

    hope everyone is doing ok

    i got given this desk before all the madness started

    the lady no longer wanted it as it is missing something off the top

    there is a shallow recess rectangle on top so im guessing it had a leather piece or something

    fits well in the spare room so gonna keep it (forgot to take pics when it was free of bits and pieces, but i couldnt resist filling it !)

    measures 36 inches by 18 inches

    would it be art nouveau or later

    theres a faint stamp under 1 drawer, think it reads walter herbert but can find any info online of that company

    any info or thoughts appreciated

    When you are able to get it away from the wall. Look on the back to see if a mirror was ever affixed to it. It might actually be a vanity table rather than a desk. Although that is what a lot of vanity tables are now used for.

    I think it dates to pre WWI. Hepplewhite style. Mahogany.

    @Ghopper1924 @verybrad @James Conrad (confirm Hepplewhite style)

    And the cross? It looks like it might say Omega Crest?

    Think Hepplewhite works and can also go with Edwardian. Could see how it could be later but think no earlier.

    Agrees on Hepplewhite style, the legs and bellflower inlay.

    No need for me to weigh in at this point :), in any case I agree with the above, although I could be convinced that it's newer than 1910-15. I've seen some revival pieces from the 40s with that kind of inlay, although it's not usually this well executed. Nice piece!!

    Very nice - clean it up and perhaps have the leather replaced with a appropriate piece. It is one of my very favorite styles - which you would know if you could see my house :) Simple yet elegant!

    There have been quite a few Hepplewhite revivals over the years, particularly in England. One reason perhaps, after his death his wife published a book with many/most of his designs, smart move by the wife I'd say.
