Looks like either a student piece (my preference) or a studio piece.

Gordon Patron seems to be the maker's name but I don't know what the LAF stands for. '88 is a good possibility for year made.

First thing that springs to mind is Lafayette

I suspect PATRON means the noun rather than a surname. And that LAF 88 was an event.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Does it have the same design on all four sides? Reminds me of a shirt with jacket lapels along the sides and a round button or stud in the top buttonhole.

I don't know for sure this is your potter but it might be worth a look. I've found the artist Bonnie J Gordon that is/was in Ohio that makes pots of this type. I found her bio and places she's exhibited (to see if she's old enough to have been potting in 1988 and indeed she was). Some of her piece are very colorful!

The direct links I've found don't seem to work but she's on Facebook.

Maybe but since yours is 34 years old if she is the artist she may have evolved into color.

You may be able to contact her and ask if it's one of hers.

Is there an email address on the Facebook page? If so email the artist and ask if it's their piece.
