Help with this clasp etc

I am interested to find out the age of this pearl strand which is 28 inches long and am amazed at all of the safety features on this clasp so I wondering if the pearls are real and can you tell the kind/type of pearl like Fresh water or AKOYA by the looking at the pearls.I have never seen this type of clasp

the clasp is a safety clasp with added safety chain....
the pearls look like good quality cultured...

Guessing there's also a figure 8 safety clasp on the side of the box clasp? And does it also have the standard safety feature of a 2 step process to close/open, with a fish hook type tongue that catches on to a tiny bar at the mouth of the box? I think yours is a reasonable surmise that all the care taken to prevent an accidental opening indicates that someone at least believed that they were valuable. Looks like they have nice luster. The pearl brigade will be along in time.
