    (Of course yours is not plate) but maybe that’s why the rampant lion?

    The lion is an armorial, so presumably he was copying that as well.

    Okay, I'm just confused now regarding a lion - is it the dreadful right-facing lion-passant shown with a 'VO' mark on the silvercollection site, or is it the engraved gryphon-head crest on the OP's piece (likely done for the buyer after purchase)?
