    Hi,
Trying to figure out the pattern and maybe the maker of this silverware for a friend. The photo of the marks is too bad to post so I only have a photo of the pattern.
The only mark is a diamond shape, but tests positive for silver, so I'm not sure if that would be a maker mark or what.
I thought the pattern would be easy to find but coming up with nothing.
    Any ideas or information appreciated.
    thanks for looking.

Where are the marks on the pieces? I take it because you tested that there is no "sterling" stamped on them?

My first impression of the design is French.

Thanks for looking at this Bakers.
The only mark is a diamond shape, no 'sterling' or ''925'. Yes they tested it, it is silver.
Will look in that direction, thanks:)

The other possibility is that these are actually plated. Relatively well plated and unworn items will test as sterling when you do not scratch deep enough during the test.

The reason I said "French" is that the cartouche for French maker's marks on solid silver items is a diamond shape. But there should also be a "guarantee" punch somewhere.

I see what looks like fork tines on the edge of the picture. Are those of the same design? If so, where is the diamond shape punch on those? If on the base of the tine part and not on the back of the handle, then they are even more likely French.

Thanks bakers. The forks are different.
Nothing that they can see inside the diamond. I haven't seen them in person so I can't say for sure.
I thought the pattern would be easy to find - if only I had a dollar for every time I've thought that, lol.

Are you going to ask your friend for more pics and information about where the diamond shape is placed?

    Thanks for your time bakers!
I thought if I could find the pattern I could go from there, but without photos of the mark I hate for you to take up your time looking for it. If and when I get some more photos I'll post them here:)

Okay. I take it they are too far away for you to see in person?
