This is 1 of about 15 paintings, prints & posters I bought for $200 from a guy who bought the estate of a cat lady who'd passed away (It was full of cat art, cat books, cat litter boxes and the SMELL of cats!).
Can someone make out the artist's name? I'm pretty sure it's not 'factory' art, but with the signature so indistinguishable, I have to admit I am worried a bit.

And what is with the rings around the poor dog's eyes?!
    Thanks!

Is that a basket beehive next to the dog. Maybe that would help to google subject matter.

Maybe some magic or clown trick where the dog comes out of the basket (or goes into it).

Maybe a trick where the dog goes into the larger door on the side, something like a mouse comes out of the little hole at the bottom on the front, & when the lid is lifted off, the dog is gone.

    From Dog Art Today

A Jamie Wyeth work depicting his yellow Labrador with a black circle around his eye has sold for $218,500 in New York City.

Christie's said Study of Kleberg brought more than five times the $40,000 pre-sale estimate.

Wyeth said he painted the circle around Kleberg's eye in the 1980s after the pooch got too close to his easel. Wyeth is a fan of the old comedy "Little Rascals," which featured a pit bull with the same marking. Wyeth is the son of the great American painter Andrew Wyeth and grandson of classic novel illustrator N.C. Wyeth.
