HELP WITH SIGNATURE ON NAUTICAL PAINTING

I found this painting yesterday (along with a 1969 Gibson 12 string guitar in it's original case!) at a local thrift store.
I love the painting; it has a relaxing aura when you look at it.
But I need help with the signature; I can't make it out for the life of me!

Had a google here in U.K. and there’s a c s Hamilton,oil on board, again of Marblehead Harbour for sale by Kaminsky Auctions in US with estimate of 2-400 dollars.

GREAT painting!! Except that there are no mermaids, it kind of reminds me a wee bit of a Cahoon....sort of!!

lol - I don't know if my eyes are getting better, but I saw a nautical scene + a $7.95 tag = I grabbed it!

 

Charles (my name too!) here is the Gibson - I accepted $500 because of the condition (cracks where neck meets body + stress cracks to varnish? on body; still not bad for a 48 hour turnaround on a $69 investment!

This was painted by my grandfather, Curtis Smith Hamilton, of Marblehead, Massachusetts. What a great find! I hope to own something of his someday.

 

I don't remember seeing this back then. Charming painting.

@Courtney Hamilton: You don't have anything by him? Looks like a talented amateur. Did he make a living off his painting? I would expect there to be several "in the family". What were his dates? Maybe you can provide a bit of bio about him?

 

Ah, the tell-tale damage at the 14th fret that may indicate the neck was probably loosened and reset with old methods. Dennis

Alas it sold on eBay ($200) several weeks ago.

 

At a yard/estate sale last year in NH I found an oil on board painting. I read that you want to own a painting of his, so I would like to get this to you.
