I have several pieces from my mom that I'm trying to figure out what to do with. Any thoughts on their origins or a possible value? Her family was originally from Oklahoma but she grew up in California. Only the writing desk and the short dresser have labels. furniture_writingdesk1_reduced.jpg furniture_writingdesk2_reduced.jpg furniture_writingdesk3_reduced.jpg furniture_writingdesk4_reduced.jpg furniture_talldresser1_reduced.jpg furniture_talldresser2_reduced.jpg furniture_talldresser3_reduced.jpg furniture_shortdresser1_reduced.jpg furniture_shortdresser4_reduced.jpg furniture_shortdresser3_reduced.jpg

@komokwa is right, values haven't really come back for this type of furniture. BUT, have you checked out any vintage/second hand furniture shops? With furniture, you obviously wouldn't want to get in to shipping! Or do you do any selling locally on line? I don't know how wide "Craigs List" reaches, but that's another 'local' venue....just do your dealing in a public place (like here, buyers & sellers meet up in the local police station parking lot....). From what I can see, the three pieces look to be in fair condition, but I think a buyer will need to do some work on them.....IMHO!

The added shelves under the desk harm the value, but does provide storage or display space. The split in the front panel is also unfortunate.

The tall dresser is very handsome and to me it's the best piece.

Can't really add much. All are circa 1900 and oak. Agree that the tall chest is the best piece. Here in the Midwest, this might bring a couple hundred on a very good day. Would need to replace the missing handle bail. These can be found pretty easily, both old and new. Might not match exactly but, if moved to a bottom position, would be less noticeable. Closer to a hundred or just a bit more on the other chest. The desk is a bit of a basket case. Under a hundred but basically whatever you can get for it. These would be realistic selling prices to the public through someplace like Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. Selling at auction or to a dealer would bring less. You probably can do a little better in CA, if the items are still there.

Oak furniture Ca. 1900-1920. Nicer than anything new. Komo’s right about the price.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Looks like the desk was sold in Chicago to somebody who lived in San Francisco? Possibly shipped to that person? Unfortunately there is no indication of the manufacturers of these items.
