Help with Japanese Translation on Woven Metal Basket

    A Japanese woven-metal basket, surrounding a decorated metal plate. Signed on the bottom - the column on the right I believe says Kyoto. Can anyone translate the left column?

    I have found a few similar examples, with suggested Meiji date. Any other comments will be welcome.

    No, none of the metals are magnetic.

    Thanks for that link! I still haven't identified the mark stamped into a Japanese Oribe bowl I bought last year (posted here, with somewhat blurry photo, but I think the stamp is legible). Nobody here took a try at it.

    I had not found that site you linked. They have a Porcelain section, but it sounds like they may also include pottery there. I will check. I did try the Asian Arts forum that @wlwhittier suggested, but nobody ever replied to my post.
