    Hi,
These belong to a friend - no idea if they are family or not. She doesn't want to take them apart to see if there is any information inside.
The frames look like they have some age but I don't know how old. So I'm trying to find out what type of wood and any idea on age of them.
Each one is 14" x 8". They don't look like they have been opened in a long time, square nails in place.
    Any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

I'd guess walnut on the frames and 3rd quarter 19th c on the portraits

I am thinking circa 1870 and look to be walnut.

The one photo of the man you liked his expression - I first thought of Spencer Tracy.
