help with chinese ? incense burner ? id

    hi folks

    i dont think this is antique old, but having difficulty finding anything like it pattern / shape wise

    can anyone help with a maker / age

    no markings but does have a sticker

    any thoughts appreciated

    Hi Charlie. I always love the colours on these pillows. Does it have an open base? Usually, the pillows were hollow so valuables, mostly cash, could be secured inside and then the owner would put their head on it to sleep, thus protecting their goods for the night. Often used when travelling and carried from inn to inn. Also used in opium dens for the same protective purpose. You can still buy them but now they are just decorative, thank heavens. I wouldn't want to sleep on one! :nurse: I'm sure someone will be along to translate the label for you.

    yes, the other side has a open big slot

    i dont get the feeling its that old though

    i think you might be right about it being more of a decorative piece

    Wouldn't think it was old, old but the label isn't new-ish and writing doesn't appear to be ball point pen. That makes Pre World War II likely.
