    8E775A87-EC79-4B6E-81BB-0D8AFA527E81.jpeg Hello,

New member here. I just picked up some jewelry and need some help with markings. The necklace is very heavy and I believe to be platinum. Scratch test held solid at 18k acid. I don’t have 22k or plat acid right now to eliminate the possibility of stainless, but I believe it to be too old for stainless. Scratches harder than what 18k should scratch

Markings are very worn, likely old European pictorial marks. I just can’t identify them. On the flip side is a capital “R” inside a diamond shaped lozenge.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, I will try to get more pics. I’m at work and the necklace is at home. My wife will send me a few pics later this morning that I will upload

Yikes, don’t mind my dirty fingers! I was digging through old jewelry for about 2 hours before the pic was taken last evening. Lol

LOL. You may try photographing this at a slight angle as the glare removes the details. I was trying to increase the contrast but my program couldn’t get past the light.

Yes, I checked with a strong magnet, not even the slighted pull

The style of the decorations looks ca 1960-70.
The people who can read Chinese have been tagged. (Assuming it is Chinese.;))
That just means the metal isn't magnetic, which you wouldn't expect anyway. It doesn't prove anything else.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I was just getting ahead of common suggestions to check with a magnet

thanks for tagging the users that you think might know

I should also note that none of the links are pinched. Everything is soldered, and neatly I might add

Hm. Isn't that a worn lotus? Egyptian?

The R on the back doesn't jibe with Egyptian too well unless it's a trans-Med mushel.

for such a weak design, I'm thinking silver..

It’s definitely not silver. Way too heavy and it holds up to 18k acid, does not turn blue on stone. It was with gold & silver and all the silver was tarnished.
