Help with 900 silver knives and forks....

These were at an estate sale last weekend, and as soon as I saw the "900" on each piece, I grabbed the set of forks and knives, $10 for the set.

They felt kind of weighty in the hand, like substantial pieces, although they're somewhat diminutive in size.







When I Ebay search "900 silver forks" some hardly sell for anything at all, and the seller's refer to them as "coin silver". Can anyone clarify that for me?

But then kind of a bad discovery. Now makes me think I'll be lucky to break even on the $10 spent. One of the forks was bend where the top section connects and I thought I'd give it a slight bend back when it snapped! And here inside is concrete or some substance to give them weight!



So one fork down... Do these have any value? I was thinking worst case melt, but now not even sure about that. Thanks for taking a look.

So you have a broken one to weigh (after cleaning) to figure what you have in melt

US coins were made of .900 silver in the past. Silversmiths melted said coins to make flatware. Thus the term coin silver. These are not those antiques. I think your maybe be Austria, Switzerland, or somewhere around there.

 

Even for scrap you will do alright!

never seen stamped/marked on the blade in Switzerland (Jezler); rarely in other European countries except France, but there producer names mostly.
doesn't make sense to me to mark on the part that is certainly not silver. the cement will be burnt in the smelter anyways.
