Featured Help With 2 Pieces Bone and Stone

Hi All,
2 pieces I need some help with.
Any information appreciated

#1 bone carving, 3 3/4"H, trying to figure out where this would be from


#2 is a face carved in a stone, 3 1/2"L. What kind of stone and any ideas on where this is from?

 

I'm thinking the first one might be antler rather than bone; but no idea where either might be from.

 

2nd is likely Inuit , that someone could not take the time to do the eyes properly..

the 1st reminds me of my Rose Elsie John ivory drinking cup...
but while the eye brows look NWC...none of the rest of it does...
still.....very well carved , indeed !!!!

there is a member here who will tell u that antler is in fact bone...
but this does look like it was carved from an antler..

 

It is very nice quality carving, and I agree, antler. He has a beard and either a decorated helmet or a chainmail head covering.

 

The antler fellow looks like he might be a chess piece.
