hi everyone. i just found this. i've had good luck in the past with Holt-Howard pieces and i thought this might be worth a few bucks. it stands about 7 inches in height. the overall design is reminiscent of Legardo Tackett's condom holders of the late 50s and early 60s. what is interesting is, if you look at other examples of Holt-Howard's various marks, they all include a circle C for copyrighting purposes. also, the ink they use is mostly black. based on my own preliminary research from what i can find online, Holt-Howard began in 1949. i'm wondering if this is some extremely early piece. it definitely doesn't look like any other Holt-Howard pieces i can find online. it's not so much "cute" as it is "modern." it also has something of a studio look to it, although i don't know if the mosaic element is original or not. Holt-Howard collectors can be rabid. i'm hoping this is some one-of-a-kind gem that's worth thousands, but, of course, i'll settle for less. any help with figuring out when this might have been made or what this line was called will be greatly appreciated...thanks holt_2.jpg holt_3.jpg holt_bottom.jpg

It sort of looks like someone used broken pottery to make a decorative object. Is that a grout sort of substance between the bits?

it appears to be thinset or grout. those cups, while obviously the same base, don't have the same egg-shape at the top. i will say, also Etsy sellers don't always know what they're selling, although 70s could be correct.

I've done broken china mosaics for years, and it can be done on all sorts of foundations - would suggest that an egg was glued on the base of a broken cup and it could be of any material, styrofoam, plastic, glass, ceramic, whatever...
