Help :) Turkish bond? info appreciatedappreciated

    From the look of it your Turkish bearer bond from the Istanbul water company went belly up long before the Ottoman Empire followed suit, as it still has most of the dividend coupons attached.

    In the scripophily world it would be pretty low ranking as is is unspectacular in appearance and is for a public utility which is not very exotic.

    The dates on the bond, 1 Mar 1884, or on the stamps, 1888.

    Something general about scripophily may be helpful, you may even find a similar bond on ebay. Just looking at completed sales and seeing what sells well and what sells for a few beans will show what the general market is like and what is in demand.

    Research is rarely wasted, this one may not be worth a great deal (in my opinion) but it's the wider knowledge that pays off when something good comes along.
    The more general knowledge you have stored away, the more the old subconscious prods you with a general feeling that 'that's got to be worth a punt' when unknown stuff comes along.
