My grandparents purchased this love seat used in the 1920's at a sale. I cannot find anything similar to it online. Any help on its style and age, etc. I believe it is made of walnut.

Probably circa 1900. No real style other than late Victorian. This was the inexpensive mass produced furniture of the day. May have been part of a living room suite. Such was sold via catalogs and local furniture stores. There were lots of variations available with each maker trying to distinguish themselves via different style details. Looks more like mahogany or wood stained to mimic mahogany.

Here is a similar vintage set from 1909.

In the South (Carolina, at least), they're called "suits" :)

I think it's kind of unusual...

    Thanks for that, Scouts!

Many long years ago, before I was married, I lived for a year on the ground level in a garden apartment complex. (What a misnomer! There were absolutely NO gardens anywhere nearby!)

Anyway, my immediate upstairs neighbors were an older couple from NC. The wife was forever talking about her new "bedroom suit". It took me the longest time to finally figure out that she was talking about her FURNITURE!!!

(Yes, I was very young, and yes, she was more than a bit odd, but still... A bedroom SUIT?)

    :shame:

It sounds even funnier when you hear it on furniture store advertising on TV! :)
