My parrot question... What does the back look like?

It reads Westal but it’s Walter Estal Brightwell as he sometimes signed with his first initial and middle name.

 

There's something funny here. The works attributed to Brightwell really range in quality. From this to this. Hard to believe work of the same artist.

Totally agree, there’s a load of things that don’t add up, apparently there is no record of a Walter Estal Brightwell anywhere. There’s a Walter Estoll Brightwell sr. That was a preacher (died in the 50s) I find Walter Brightwell jr. but no record with the middle name Estal.
There’s reference to jr.’s daughter Nina that contributed to his Askart biography and she doesn’t mention the Westal signatures. I think the whole Westal thing is made up.
