Help on this carved acrylic bangle

Hi,
Trying to figure out what I have. It’s yellowed and I don’t think that’s how it originally came. I read that American lucite won’t turn yellow so thinking this is only acrylic unless it’s from overseas somewhere. It looks carved. Any ideas on anything about this? Is the yellowing going to deter someone from buying it? I know that is a pig-poke in the dark. Just curious.

It hasn't yellowed enough to be bakelite; clear bakelite oxidizes into something called "apple juice" yellow. This is some sort of acrylic or lucite. Both of which can be carved. It may not be horribly old; pieces made a similar way were around from the mid-50s to most likely last week. The color is pretty standard and only tells me this isn't one of the newer ones.

 

Oh! I didn’t know Bakelite turned the apple juice color. I thought it came that way. Good to know! I didn’t think it could be bake at any rate. Just thinking acrylic. I just wasn’t sure they really carved that stuff

 

Sure did. Reverse-carved lucite especially was a "thing" for over a decade. Machine-done carved lucite is still being made as far as I know.
