Help on Chinese import necklace, please

Hi,
Helping a friend. She wants to know anything you can help her with on this.
I said turn of the century or later Chinese import but she was wondering more about the cinnabar.
Any help is very much appreciated

doesn't look particularly well carved...or having much age.......imo..

those deep cuts would have at least some residue deposits after time....unless never worn and kept in a box...

 

and I notice a line....joining two halfs.....is that really cinnabar?

 

Interesting question @komokwa....I wasn't sure the line looked like it was a line that met....but maybe it does.....which is why I enlarged it.....still not sure....nice piece though!
