Help on Basket with Insert

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Connie Osborne, Mar 21, 2017.

  1. Hello
I have this basket with a ceramic bottom insert and wood bottom. Just wondering if anyone knows origin and date? Also if anyone can identify the flower in the middle.
    Thanks again! vntgb001.JPG vntgb002.JPG vntgb004.JPG vntgb003.JPG vntgb005.JPG vntgb006.JPG vntgb009.JPG vntgb010.JPG vntgb008.JPG

    Nice photos.

A bit stumped on this, can't say I recall seeing similar. I'd guess vintage, maybe 1960's plus or minus, but just a guess. Is the ceramic piece glued down?

I remember seeing these when I was a child, that makes it at least 50s-early 60s.

If the "tile" is removable it may be one of those "heat the tile and wrap the rolls" to keep them warm things from the 1970's-80s.....................

  5. It's not removable. That sucker is in there to STAY! Ha! Whatever was used, it must have been great, cause that thing doesn't budge.

I've had this around for a couple of years, and because of the colors, I always took it for Christmas, until I REALLY looked at it and saw the beautiful delicate bloom...I'm stumped.

I do like the "heat the tile, warm the rolls" idea though. Wonder if the former owner just never used the heat/warm option, and decided to super-glue the tile down.......
