I looked on Gotheborg but did not see this mark. I'm not sure of the orientation of the mark so I posted it in two directions. The bowl is 9 3/4" wide 2 3/4" tall. Are these violets? Thank you.

    Lovely bowl.
    I don't think violets.
    Looks more like purple roses.

It does not have anything what would suit as for "Japanese" porcelain piece, except of mark itself, which probably imitation to make it more attractive to potential buyers :) - i would go with Europe, maybe France or Germany.

Thank you for looking. Can you be more specific about what attributes you feel are European?

Every single bit here points out to Europe, i would go with France..Try to research Limoge or Sevres porcelain, you will find a lot of similar floral designs and patterns. I think some small factory in Europe tried to copy famous factories as Serves, etc. and at the end added Chinese or Japanese characters on a bottom to make look more attractive at that time.

If refer to Asia - i have at least antique times on my mind, gold color bottom mark been used in Japan, mostly on satsuma porcelain ware and this is not Satsuma ware:)

i would be everything what i have on Europe here - if this piece totally new who knows maybe made in China or Japan..God knows what they make over there at these times, they make everything or anything :) But i don't see anything Asian in it apart of characters on a bottom :)

Not violets, but something I've actually got growing and have lost the name of temporarily. ;) I'll go fish the tag out. Violets have quite different leaves.

    Thanks OBB.

Thank you for elaborating. I will have to search some books and see if I can come up with a blank shape that looks similar.

It definitely isn't "new". I inherited this bowl and I can say with certainty that it existed at least as far back as the 1940's/1950's.
