I have a family heirloom I am trying to find out as much as I can about. I can’t find any distinguishing markings detailing the maker, other than a signature in pencil on the bottom of a drawer. Any help is much appreciated 2E725770-2582-4917-8591-EE28A585D3E3.jpeg 2E725770-2582-4917-8591-EE28A585D3E3.jpeg A2F427AB-E51E-4A08-983C-2C1F66B9A439.jpeg

the word "fecit" that follows a name I cannot make out, is Latin for "made."

I just now found “Dixon’s Patent” on the wooden buttons inside drawer behind handles.

Thank you! Used to reside in my families store dating back to late 1800s

Searching has found many in this style with one example being marked with a punch into a top edge of a drawer. They say it's by Priest, Blackfriars, London.

... this says the stamped name is a dealer stamp ...

"W. Priest – 1 & 2 Tudor St, Blackfriars. Priest was known as an auctioneer, retailer and appraiser between 1837-1840. His trade label can be found on furniture dating from the late Georgian to mid Victorian period. Labels from his Tudor street address suggest he traded in second hand furniture at the time rather than being an actual cabinet maker himself."

Could it be a Heywood and Dixon?

The name may have been Latinized. Looks to me like it may end "iscum".

And it's not really a roll top. The correct term is Cylinder desk I think

That sure does look remarkably similar. Perhaps it is even older that I thought. Thank you

Did not even know the difference. Is one style earlier than another?

As far as I know, it could be anything. All I know is the family history. Not knowledgeable about furniture at all

    More how it made
Your top is solid like a cylinder
    Roll top is slats.

Wish I could find out how it ended up in rural South Eastern United States. I know it was atleast in my families possession in late 1800s. I suppose it could have been even before that. Thank you all so much for your help
