Help Identifying Very Old Vase

Discussion in 'Pottery, Glass, and Porcelain' started by Robert Frederick Lehmann, Jun 12, 2021.

  1. Hi all,
My Mom bought this vase as an antique in the 1940's. She thinks its almost 200 years old but my Mom exaggerates a bit! I tried Googling but have never found anything like it online. See pic.
    Thanks!

Does your image cut off the top of the vase?

What is on the medallions? You can show them to us if you're not sure.

  7. Closer to 16” I did not measure it.
She did not buy it in Mumbai

  8. I think if you zoom in on the pic you can see them pretty clearly

Hello @Robert Frederick Lehmann & welcome to the forum!!:happy:

Just to let you know @komokwa was just being his sometimes usual smart a-- self. ;):playful::playful::p

Are there different scenes on the medallions? The one I was able to see appears to be Cupid. It may help @Bronwen to see the different scenes.:happy:

No, not well enough, particularly not the one on the right. Are there only the 2 designs repeated or are all 4 different? What do you see on them?

It's not 200 years old, it may be 100, early 20th century is my GUESS.

  12. An additional photo of the bottom, not sure if this is helpful at all. Looks like I need to go see my mom and ask questions and take more pics.

It was donated by an antique dealer for a fundraiser in Jersey City, NJ. It is made by Sevres and is supposedly quite old. Attached are a much better set of photos.
