Hi, we have an antique sideboard that is quite old and we would like to know if someone knows what it is and maybe what period it is from? The carvings and dovetail joints look hand made. Its Pretty big at 6'6" long 3' high and 18" deep. Thanks

Welcome to the forum, Mr. Laurence W Smith.
The furniture people will probably want more photos, but I'll let them specify what they want. I took the liberty of posting your sideboard full image:

Looks to be circa 1925 but more photos are necessary, as it could be older. Also any provenance you have could be important..

English, I suspect it's oak, that whole Tudor Revival thing we did like mad. Could be 1920s might even go into the 60s. Have a look for a label, I bet I can guess who might have made it.

Thanks, unfortunately I don't know anything about its history except it's been looked after extremely well- the top doesn't have a scratch on it. What things are best to photograph?
Also, how do I insert photos into my post rather than as an attachment? Thanks

If you want to insert photos, the easiest is drag and drop.

Thanks, I've managed to figure it out. I'd been attaching them as thumbnails. IMG_20180315_153224.jpg IMG_20180315_153245.jpg IMG_20180315_153314.jpg IMG_20180315_153347.jpg IMG_20180315_165658.jpg

Also, any idea why the back of the drawers have '3' on them? IMG_20180317_170102.jpg

Definitely what I thought, that and I'd say 1940s. Might be Olde Charm, or E Gomme, but there's another company who used those fitments. I've a chest made by them, but without taking EVERYTHING off the top, I can't open it to look at the makers' plaque!

The numbers are simply to match the drawers to the carcass.
