Hello everyone - I'm trying to identify this spatter glass vase. It's about 4 1/4" tall and 4 1/4" across the top. Base measurement is almost 2 3/4" with partially polished pontil. Thanks for whatever guidance you can provide.

Typical of Czech art glass but there is new stuff being made as well. Can't tell you what you have for sure. Kind of hard to say but there is something about that particular ruffled top that seems atypical for the old stuff.

This is the closest comparable that I could find for your vase. Notice the differences between the two ruffled tops. This one is much more typical. Also, there seems to be a difference in thickness of the glass. I have found that a lot of the new stuff tends to be thicker.

Thank you for your time and comments, verybrad. The swirl pattern does look very much like the picture you posted directly above. But, the ruffled top bothered me too. I was also finding it very difficult to find another vase with the top mine has. I would also expect the folds to be more even. Also the spatter is less even than with your example. Upon reflection it just isn't of the quality for Czech (good Czech anyway)!

Background: Vasa Murrhina was an unknown glass, reported in Ancient History, perhaps before the 'Dark Ages.' It has never been discovered what it was in reference to. After the Boston and Sandwich Glass Co. on Cape Cod ceased operations, a new, short lived factory calling its wares Vasa Murrhina made art glass in the old Sandwich factory. Its wares were typical art glass of the late 19th century. It may have included spatter glass, but probably not like the pieces above.
