I inherited this piece of art from my mothers house recently and cannot find any info about it from a google search after typing in Parigi Dito.

It looks to be a lithograph on Canvas made in Holland, the frame measures 59" by 39".

I can trace it back to a relatives Victorian Banquet hall in the 1960's, but beyond that I have no Idea.

Also, someone offered 800 dollars for it when I was selling off some antiques, but I decided not to sell it because I had no idea of its value.

    Welcome, Figgs.
It is a Dutch inspired genre painting, but with a Mediterranean feel.
I read Paprèsi De..., the rest is missing in the photo.

What are those oil paint prints called again?

You may be thinking of Giclée (made with inkjet printers -- not what this is, I don't think).

I'm not sure when lithographs on canvas became a thing and sadly I don't have a clue about the original piece -- even though I looked, lol.

    Hi @figgs welcome

What's up with the first letter on the signature?

Have you figured out if it's a print? Your description indicates it was in an family residence, but I'm not sure what you mean by "Victorian" which conflicts with the date of 1960s, in any case :)

Anywhoo, the back (including the canvas peeking out) looks new...

The first message calls it "lithograph on canvas" -- I think (but OP will clarify) that OP is looking for info on the original painting, but does not believe this is an original painting.

No, it is something that was already done before inkjet printers, using oil paint. I can't remember the correct term.:banghead:

    Missed that :)

A full image of the signature?

@Any Jewelry is right... But a search for Dutch genre oil 1801 + name seems like a good start

period costume pub + I see a river/some water back there... Al fresco?

I paused, so forgive if I'm repeating something already covered

I think @Any Jewelry is going with an Italian name
I haven't really cracked that first word/name. The two words are different sizes and styles
To me the i in Dito looks more like an e with accent or?
    D'età = from age
    Means "after" or copy of?
Why it would be bigger than the name, I've no clue.
    Just my musings.

@Any Jewelry: is it Reofect you are thinking of? Covered in another thread on these boards, but I have no idea if it applies.

The damage shown could indicate paper on canvas. Some good, clear close-ups might tell the tale.

This doesn't look like anything from 1801 to me. Would love to be proved wrong.

I am just pointing out it has to be pre 1960 since it was in the family since then and victorian has no meaning other then that was the type of banquet hall it was hanging in in the 1960's.

Correct, I do not believe it is the original painting.

Dito was a guess on my part, I would have to remove the frame to see more letters.

I agree, it is some type of reprint, but what type exactly and when?

Dunno where the 1801 comes from but your painting appears to be no earlier than Victorian. And the "Made in Holland" frame 20th century.
