Help identifying Italian lamp

    My brother loves this lamp, but would like more information about it. I suspect it may have been a vase at one point, but I can't see the top to confirm. Any help would be much appreciated.

    we'll need more photo's to know what's really going on here....

    I can only say the 1820....is likely a model number.....not the date it was made !

    it may even have been a blank that was painted by an amateur.....
